STR: Your New Favourite Podcasts

14 Nov 2024

This is no secret we are launching STR — The Sandy Times Radio (and you are joining us for the launch party, right?). The new digital platform for your thirsty creative minds. There you could find everything. And from November 16 onwards — you will find podcasts as well.
As the first independent music and culture radio station in the Middle East, STR is more than just audio, it is a platform for discovery, delivering rich content that resonates with our region’s forward-thinking, culturally engaged audience.
We know how much you enjoy us uncovering the stories behind the projects and now we are digging even deeper.

So, what is in the box?

On November 16 we will launch two brand-new podcasts that dive deep into the world of culture and fashion, bringing fresh perspectives and expert voices to your listening experience.

The Creative Hour

S01: Exploring Modern Tradition
In The Creative Hour, we take our passion for the MENA region’s cultural scene into a new realm. Known for our in-depth cultural coverage, The Sandy Times is bringing this trademark to audio with an inspiring new series. Each season of The Creative Hour is dedicated to exploring a central theme from multiple creative angles.
This first season, “Modern Tradition”, investigates how globalisation impacts cultural canons and shapes new traditions. Listen in as celebrated artists, like Arabic calligraphy expert Ghaleb Hawila, Lebanese-Australian sculptor Tarek Elkassouf, and Dubai-based multimedia artist Asma Belhamar, share personal insights on heritage, memory, and transformation.
From the visual arts to music and design, each episode offers a unique perspective on the region’s evolving artistic landscape.

Eat Bag

The Most Iconic Bags And Their History
For fashion lovers, Eat Bag explores the timeless allure of the world’s most coveted handbags. Each episode covers a fashion masterpiece, from the legendary Hermès Birkin and Kelly bags to Fendi’s Baguette, and Dior’s Lady D and Saddle Bags.
With background stories, cultural impact, and style evolution, Eat Bag is a must-listen for anyone fascinated by the intersection of fashion history and modern trends.
Both The Creative Hour and Eat Bag will be live on STR from November 16 onwards, offering compelling stories and expert voices from across the MENA region. We will publish one episode each week, so you could savour it through.
Plug in and explore how culture and style continue to shape and inspire the world around us!
