Get Ready To Watch: The Most Anticipated TV Shows Of Summer 2024

5 Jun 2024

So, we have already shared lists of movies to shed tears over and series to spend time with during long flights. This time, we have compiled a lineup of the most eagerly awaited TV shows of the summer. Mark those release dates on your calendar and wait patiently.

The Bridgerton, Season 3, Part 2

When: June 13th
Where: Netflix
We have talked about the first part of Season 3 here, and now, just in a few days, the second part of the new season will drop. It is set to be four episodes long.
So, the first half of the new season wraps up (spoiler alert!) with Colin proposing marriage. But, as always, things aren't that straightforward. Remember, Penelope isn't just Penelope; she is also the enigmatic Lady Whistledown. And here is the rub: Colin's completely in the dark about this. On the one hand, Penelope is torn up about keeping secrets from Colin. On the other, she is adamant he doesn't uncover her secret. Suddenly, in the trailer, Eloise says: "If it’s too difficult for you to reveal the truth, I will reveal it to him myself!" Let's wait and see.

House of the Dragon, Season 2

When: June 16th
Where: HBO
Get ready all of you who had enough power to watch all the seasons of "Game of Thrones" and then dove into "House of the Dragon", Season 1. Season 2 of "House of the Dragon" is hitting screens, continuing the epic saga leading up to the events of "Game of Thrones". Expect the Targaryen civil war to heat up, with Rhaenyra and Alicent taking their conflict to new heights. And of course, there'll be dragons, dragons, and dragons.
In an interview with Variety, the show's writer and producer, Sarah Hess, dropped a tantalising hint about the Season 2 finale: "I don't think you'll be disappointed." Looks like we are in for something truly epic.

The Bear, Season 3

When: June 27th
Where: Disney+
After the smashing success of the first two seasons, it was only a matter of time before “The Bear” announced its third season. And now, on June 27th, it is finally hitting screens. All 10 episodes will be available at once (a big thank you to the creators for sparing us the agony of waiting).
So, what is the plot? Judging by the trailer, Chef Carmy is launching his high-end dining spot, “The Bear”, pouring his heart and soul into it, believing that perfection is the only option. The kitchen vibe, to put it lightly, is chaotic: plates are crashing, knives are clashing, and tension is simmering. After watching the trailer, you can't help but root for Carmy’s success.

The Lady in the Lake

When: July 19th
Where: Apple TV+
This series is based on Laura Lippman's novel of the same name. Set in 1960s Baltimore, it follows Maddy, a housewife and mother, who becomes an investigative journalist after an unsolved murder pushes her to action. She is joined by Cleo Sherwood, a diligent woman balancing motherhood, multiple jobs, and activism.

Time Bandits

When: July 24th
Where: Apple TV+
Meet Taika Waititi and his "Time Bandits". It is a TV adaptation of Terry Gilliam's comedy about an 11-year-old boy who befriends six time-travelling dwarves and embarks on adventures through time, from dinosaurs to 1920s Harlem. Lisa Kudrow also stars in the series. So yes, Phoebe from "Friends" is now time-travelling (fits her, doesn't it?).

The Umbrella Academy, Season 4

When: August 8th
Where: Netflix
In the Season 3 finale, Reginald Hargreeves reboots the universe. Now, the members of "The Umbrella Academy" are just regular people without any superpowers. Season 4 sees them navigating ordinary life: subway, job, kids, birthday parties. But will it stay that way? Of course not. They will quickly regain their superpowers in the face of a new threat.

Emily in Paris, Season 4, Part 1

When: August 15th
Where: Netflix
Upon its initial release, the show faced criticism for its stereotypical and negative portrayal of the French and Parisians. Despite this, it has millions of viewers, leading to renewals for second and third seasons. Now, on August 15th, the first part of the fourth season is set to drop, with the second part scheduled for September 12th.
What is in store? The third season left viewers on a dramatic cliffhanger, leaving plenty of unanswered questions. Lily Collins has promised that the new season will deliver "more fun, more fashion, and of course, more drama for you all".
