The Longest Public Beach In Dubai: All Info In One Place

9 Jul 2024

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has given the green light to the Master Plan for the Jebel Ali Beach Development Project. This means Dubai is getting the longest public beach in the city! Here is the scoop on what we know so far about this fantastic new addition.

Size

The beach will span a whopping 6.6 km and cover 330 hectares. The project is split into two main areas: a 5 km sandy beach developed by Nakheel and a 1.6 km mangrove beach developed by Dubai Municipality.
Here is what is in store:
— 2 km Swimmable Beach
— 2.5 km Diving Sports Area
— Walkway with Viewing Platforms
— Recreational and Service Areas
The beach will be seamlessly connected with integrated infrastructure, featuring a two-lane road in each direction, parking for 1,000 vehicles, 80 bicycle racks, a cycling track, and a 5 km running track.

Three parts

The beach will be divided into three locations. The first is The Pearl. This central location will host a variety of activities and amenities, including sports activities, a swimming pool, kids play zones, a beach club with a pool and private beach for a fee, several restaurants, cafes, shops, and a floating restaurant in a unique setting.
The second location, The Sanctuary, offers a haven for turtles and natural habitats.
The third location, The Nest (within the mangrove area), offers a recreational and educational destination featuring a mix of educational initiatives and environmental conservation. It includes an environmental center for studies and awareness of biodiversity, turtle rehabilitation and care programs, and opportunities for visitors to learn about and help preserve the coastal ecosystem.

Architecture

The architectural design of the Jebel Ali Beach Development Project beautifully blends natural geometry and Boho style. Inspired by marine shapes like coral and turtle shells, the buildings harmonize with the surrounding environment. The use of locally sourced materials enhances the authentic Boho vibe, making the structures appear as natural extensions of the sandy dunes. It's a perfect fusion of nature and style, creating a unique coastal retreat.
