How To Prevent Shoe Rubbing: Your Ultimate Guide

12 Jul 2024

Picture this: It is summer, and the heat is unbearable (not just hot, but scorching — like you are in a volcano). The asphalt is melting, and you could fry an egg on the sidewalk. We have already covered how to protect yourself from sunstroke and heatstroke here, and which fabrics to wear in this weather here. But there is another issue: shoe rubbing. Summer is sandal season, and that often means visible band-aids peeking out from under your shoes.
Regular band-aids can slip off, peel away, and look unappealing. So, we have gathered some tips and products that will not only save your feet but also prevent blisters from forming in the first place.
Disclaimer: Remember, everyone's feet are different, and what works for one person might not work for another.

Toe Sleeves

Toe sleeves are lifesavers for protecting vulnerable toes, especially the big toe and pinky, which always seem to suffer the most.

Silicone Heel Socks

We have all been there: new shoes, excited to wear them, but ending up limping home because of painful blisters on your heels. These silicone heel socks are the solution, saving your heels from blisters, particularly with new, stiff shoes.

Anti-Blister Stick

Apply an anti-blister stick to areas on your feet prone to rubbing. It forms a protective barrier to prevent blisters from forming.

Band-Aids

If you already have a blister and can barely stand wearing anything but flip flops (these ones are great, by the way), it is time for a trusty band-aid. I like this one — it sticks firmly, feels like a second skin, and lets you forget about that painful blister.
