The Paris 2024 Olympics Are Almost Here: Arab Athletes To Watch

The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, happening from July 26 to August 11, will showcase incredible talent from around the world, including the best athletes from the Arab world. How many are there? A lot! While we can't list them all, here are a few you should definitely keep an eye on (though honestly, we recommend watching everyone).

Soufiane El Bakkali (Morocco) — Athletics

Morocco's Soufiane El Bakkali is a star in the 3000 m steeplechase. After winning gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, he is back to defend his title in Paris. With his agility, speed, and endurance, he is a formidable competitor and a must-watch in this challenging event.

Hedaya Malak (Egypt) — Taekwondo

Hedaya Malak, an accomplished taekwondo practitioner from Egypt, already has two Olympic medals (bronze in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020). Competing in the women's 67 kg category, Malak's skill, determination, and experience make her a strong contender for another podium finish in Paris.

Mutaz Essa Barshim (Qatar) — Athletics

Qatar's Mutaz Essa Barshim is a high jump sensation. With a gold medal from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and several world championships under his belt, Barshim aims to retain his Olympic title. His remarkable jumping ability and consistency make him a key athlete to watch.

A renowned athlete in the 3000-metre steeplechase, Kenyan-born Winfred Yavi relocated to Bahrain at the age of 15 and became eligible to represent her nation the following year. Winfred will be competing in the 2024 Summer Olympics, showcasing her sporting prowess in this challenging event.
