Unusual Bars In Dubai You Need To Have On Your Radar

27 Sept 2024

Dubai is a city full of surprises, and its bar scene is no exception. I have spent countless evenings exploring some of the quirkiest spots around town, and by quirky, I mean those that stand out for their unique charm and vibe. Get ready to bookmark this round-up as I get into some of my absolute favourite bars and why I love hanging out at them.

Mina Brasserie, DIFC

Tucked away in DIFC, Mina Brasserie is a sophisticated yet relaxed spot, ideal for unwinding after a long day or weekend lunches with friends. It is elegant and cosy with its lush greenery and contemporary European décor. The cocktails are chef's kiss, crafted with flair and paired beautifully with their brasserie-style dishes.
Mina Brasserie is my go-to when out in DIFC; it is the perfect mix of upscale and laid-back. I can meet friends here and feel like we are treating ourselves without some of the formalities of some high-end spots.

ROKA, Business Bay

The setting is minimalistic, with soft lighting and sleek wooden accents. The bar is bustling. Watch the mixologists do their thing while conversing with friends — it will soon become a favourite of yours, too! I am always drawn to their unique cocktails, which are inspired by Japanese flavours and crafted with a precision that I admire.
It is terrace season. If you don’t want to opt for a bar seat, head to the terrace, sip on a cocktail and take in the skyline view.

La Coco, Andaz The Palm

On the weekends, when I am craving a bit of beachy fun, I head to La Coco at Andaz The Palm. I love this vibrant hotel. The bar is tropical-themed, like a mini island escape in the middle of the city. Expect bright colours, playful décor, and fruity cocktails that give the whole place an upbeat holiday vibe.
My favourite thing is to go for drinks and stay to catch the sunset with a cold beverage in hand; it is always a mood-lifter.

Salmon Guru, Business Bay

Salmon Guru’s décor is quirky and eclectic, with neon lights, comic-inspired murals and an all-around offbeat energy. The cocktails and mocktails here are creative and theatrical — think smoky, spicy, and full of unexpected twists.
Salmon Guru is my go-to for a night when I have visitors in town or want something completely different. I love how playful it feels — nothing is too serious, from the décor to the drinks.

Ernst, 25hours Hotel, World Trade Centre

For something more casual but no less memorable, Ernst at the 25hours Hotel has all the hallmarks of a classic German beer hall — long wooden tables, hearty food, and an impressive selection of beer.
Ernst is my top choice for a fun yet relaxed Sunday. It is lively, relaxed and perfect for larger groups. I love getting together with friends over a few drinks and comfort food.

Galaxy Bar, DIFC

If you are looking for a more intimate and luxurious experience, Galaxy Bar in DIFC is a hidden gem. The deep blue, cosmic-inspired interiors give it an air of mystery and exclusivity, making it feel like a secret hideaway. The cocktails are crafted with an attention to detail that’s unmatched, and I always find myself savouring every sip.
Galaxy Bar is where I go for those nights when I want a quieter, more refined experience. The intimate setting makes every evening feel special, and the dim, starry-lit atmosphere creates the perfect mood for good conversation. It’s one of those places where time seems to slow down, and I love that.

Q's Bar, Palazzo Versace

Q's Bar, located in the opulent Palazzo Versace, is the place to be if you love live music. Curated by the legendary Quincy Jones, this intimate jazz bar offers an incredible musical experience paired with elegant cocktails.
What I love most about Q’s Bar is the music. There’s something magical about sipping a perfectly crafted drink while listening to world-class musicians in such an intimate setting. It is a rare gem in Dubai and a place I always look forward to revisiting for a soulful night out.

Miss Lily’s, Sheraton Grand Hotel

For a completely different vibe, Miss Lily’s brings the laid-back energy of the Caribbean to Dubai. This bar is all about the laid-back reggae beats, immense selection of drinks and bold, spicy flavours. This spot is perfect for those nights when I want something fun and unpretentious. I recommend a Monday, Tuesday or weekend evening to really feel the vibes of this bar.
It is impossible not to have a good time here, especially with the vibrant food and drinks keeping things lively.

Arrazuna, The Link, One Za'abeel Dubai

Perched on the 24th floor of The Link at One Za'abeel, offering one of the most stunning vantage points in the city. Perched high up in this iconic building, it’s the perfect spot to sit back, sip a beverage and watch the city come alive below.
I adore Arrazuna; it is the kind of place where I can truly unwind, whether I am catching up with friends or just taking a moment to soak in the city.
